P.A.U.S.E. Program

P.A.U.S.E. Program
The P.A.U.S.E. Program is an equine-assisted wellness program designed specifically for veterans and first responders. We do not charge for this service. Through meaningful interactions with horses, participants are provided a safe, supportive environment where they can pause from the demands of daily life, reconnect with themselves, and build the skills needed to navigate stress, trauma, and life transitions.
Horses are highly sensitive to human emotions and body language, offering immediate, honest feedback without judgment. This unique connection helps participants increase self-awareness, develop trust, improve communication, and strengthen emotional regulation. Research has shown that equine-assisted services can help reduce symptoms associated with stress, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD while promoting resilience and overall well-being.
The P.A.U.S.E. Program focuses on:
-
Building confidence and self-esteem
-
Developing healthy coping skills
-
Strengthening leadership and communication abilities
-
Reducing stress and promoting relaxation
-
Enhancing mindfulness and emotional awareness
-
Creating connections with peers who share similar experiences
-
Fostering a renewed sense of purpose and hope
No horse experience is necessary. Activities may include grooming, groundwork, leading exercises, obstacle challenges, mindfulness activities, and other hands-on experiences with the horses. Riding may be incorporated when appropriate, but the healing benefits often come from simply working alongside these remarkable animals.
For many veterans and first responders, horses provide a powerful opportunity to slow down, be present in the moment, and experience connection without expectations. The P.L.A.U.S.E. Program offers a place where participants can reflect, heal, grow, and discover new strengths—one step, one breath, and one hoofbeat at a time.
